This really was terrible!!
May the Almighty rest their souls in peace.
It has happened, and we may not do much about it now . But I would like to
suggest that in future it could probably be better if transporting of dead
bodies from other parts of the country to Arua be done only during the day time
after having had a rest at night. This is because during the preceding day,
things are hectic: looking for transport means, funds, going through
preliminary funeral rites in Kampala and many other issues we have to attend to
during the day time may exert a lot of stress on us. So if we do not allow
ourselves some bit of rest at night first in order to leave early in the
morning, then we may run the risk of human errors during the long and strenuous
drive from Kampala to Arua, which may turn out to be tragic. So, brothers and
sisters, for the above reasons, if we adjusted our travel times as above it
could help avert tragedies.

Dear Brothers, and Sisters,
It was real tragic and horrible situation to bury 9 of my relatives all at ago.
This accident happened on Friday last week at around 8.pm on Karuma-off Gulu
rd. 13 km while 12 of my relatives were taking the body of one relative who
died from Entebbe ( Late Tabu) for burial in Maracha, Tara sub county – Kololo.
A double cabin was provided by Nakasongola District Local Government through
Late Azaga – district health officer Nakasongola ( he too died in the
accident) to take the first dead body for burial. The driver crushed into a
stationary trailer, crashing all the 9 beyond recognition.
Great thanks to Mr. James Nyakuni(Gaagaa Coaches) and Mr. Embati( California
Bus service) who helped to transport mourners from Arua, Maracha and Koboko;
Arua District LC 5 – Maracha -Nyakuni , Women MP Maracha District Hon Lamatia
Ruth who was the chief mourner , and all those who mourned with us.
Thousands of people gathered for the joint funeral service that was done at
Kololo Primary school.
3 survivors were taken to Atapara health centre, now in Lacor Hospital in
critical condition, now recovering.
The main cause of the accident(according to Police) was high speed coupled with
drink driving. The driver survived, and no were to be seen as yet.
The Major will be buried today by the UPDF, and one private will be buried
tomorrow.
May the souls of the deceased Rest in Eternal Peace.
