Colleagues,
The Ma'di have a saying 'aringua koleci ri oza driso kole kuru ri'bati ra'
which would be translated as ' a bird caught in a trap is worth more than those
still at large'.
My view is that we should be grateful to what we have at hand. Let us use it as
we come up with ways of improvement. Please understand that West Nilers and
their sub-region seem to have been blacklisted and might continue to be
subjected to long term neglect by the responsible institution(s). A few
misguided, greedy, corrupt and opportunistically focused sons and daughters of
the soil are also causing serious havoc to our people. Together with others who
can afford University education elsewhere, they send their children away from
that 'curse' mass of land. Do you know what the people went through from
October 1980 - 1987? The 'Inya madri ku' which worked against West Nilers
followed them even into Sudan and then brought them back.
In brief, let us embrace Muni University and do not try to compare nor contrast
any of these universities for they are not the same. Ideally Muni NTC should
not have been converted in to a University. We need a new thing in a new
environment - we have the land and the local support.
