You need to change the WhatsUp Gold Windows Events service so that it logs in under an account that has Administrative privileges on the other systems that you want to monitor. (If you are using Domain security, then an account in the "Domain Admins" group usually does the trick).
You don't need to install anything on the remote box, as long as it is running Windows 2000 or XP.
