The remote non-domain account is password-synchronized with a local
non-domain account that the "WhatsUp Gold Windows Events" service (aka
WinEvnt.exe) is running under?
Here's something to try: open the debug log (with Logs -> Debug Log...) and
turn off polling temporarily (to cut down on the noise). Right-click the
icon for the device you are trying to gather events for, and just click OK.
You should see some messages in the log that indicate it is adding the event
to the host, like this:
Windows Log: Adding event 'Any' to host at 10.1.2.3 (0x34E69F8E)
Wait a while, now. Up to 2 minutes or so later, you should get an error
message like this:
Windows Log: Could not connect to WMI at '10.1.2.3' will retry in 120
seconds Error 800706BA: 'The RPC server is unavailable.'
The interesting thing will be that error code and the quoted error message
on the end. That will tell us if you truly have an authentication problem,
or some other problem. (If it is authentication it will say "Access is
denied" or similar).
