It's as reliable as your network connection. Which as long as you've
got a ping monitor running for the UPS, you should be all set. After
you import the mibs, add the event (v8.0). The trap will start with
apc*.

Jay,

So if the UPS detects any problems it will send an SNMP trap to WUP. Is
this service reliable? I want to be sure we receive messages pertaining
to battery conditions, power, etc.

Thanks,

Adam

I set the UPS's to send SNMP traps to my WhatsUp server. Then create
events to watch for with an associated alert to notify our on-call guy.

Oh ya, I did this after compiling the APC MIBs into WUG.

Subject: [WhatsUp Forum] What's UP and APC Smart UPS

I want to monitor my APC Smart UPS for power failure notifications.
Currently my APC will email me if I have a power failure; however, I
want my What's Up to monitor the UPS and when a power failure is
detected (on battery) have What's Up send me a page instead of having
the APC send an email. Anyone know how to monitor the status of the APC
(on battery, discharged, battery needs replacing, etc)?

Thanks in advance.

Adam
