Okay, You do NOT have to know Unix, but read
on: If you are familiar with Unix,
you have heard of Crontabs. Crontabs
are used for scheduling on Unix platforms. There is something similar for Windows
platforms. There is a free version
and a paid version. The paid
version is “free” for 30 days.
The free version is free… However there is a difference between the
two – although both are easy to use, you may have to play with the free
version, or read the directions, you will have to edit a text file called “cron.tab”
directly to schedule your events (only one line per event is needed and the
events run at what ever interval you like as frequently as every minute). Before I tell you where to get it, I want
to tell I have used nncron for over a year without a glitch. I suggest you
evaluate the paid version in order to get a feel for how powerful the program is
—scheduling scripts is only the beginning. Just before the evaluation period expires,
either buy it; stop the service, if you installed the service; or uninstall the
program and switch to the free version.
The free version, by the way, is called nncronlite. If you continue using the paid version beyond
the eval period, you will receive a registration reminder every time it calls a
script. I happened to catch mine
after about an hour or so and had a window open for each minute. That is not too much to worry about,
except if you don’t look at the server for days after the eval expires. The use of nncron is straight forward, but
if you need help, send a message. You may get nncron and nncronlite from
many sites, but I get it from the person who authored the program. Read the first three paragraphs at the
following url to see if it is something you can use. Give me some feedback. Anthony Franklin, Network

capabilities. *looks on the floor* Oh look, I think I found that
suggestion. ;-) I've tried for too long for workarounds and going to
start looking at other products. Third party plug-ins we've bought and
used in the past for WUG even seem to be dropping off the market. It's a great product but I think there are a few easy
features that could be added and haven't been responded to... I think many
could create a script/program to do either of these requests in an afternoon,
then tested, implemented and distributed within a reasonable amount of time. -----Original Message----- ... But how do you get WUG to run the script? I
could write so many batch, vbs or perl scripts to monitor anything I wanted,
but WUG doesn't give me a way to run the scripts. I want to have command
monitor! I know it has been asked for many times, but we still don't have
it. -----Original Message----- > > > > > > > > |
