Not the cleanest of approaches, by any means, downright ugly actually, but
what if you employed multiple maps with the same "device" in each map.
Then you could set different polling stages for each map. Now, I believe
that you can NOT MONITOR a device, yet still get SNMP trap reports from it.
But if you are monitoring a SERVICE on a device, then I believe that you
have to MONITOR the up/down status of the device, as well. So, I suppose
you could theoretically work it, but you'd have to suffer with multiple
up/down alerts on the same device.

That's a feature request I put in a long long time ago. I'm at a
different company now, and I'm monitoring a much smaller group of items,
so I haven't kept tabs on if this was ever implemented or not... But I
know it had to be two years ago that I submitted the feature request.

Subject: [WhatsUp Forum] Staggered Polling
I have a map with a number of services to check. When I start the
polling, All the services are checked at the same time. I can stagger
the polling frequency a bit but is there a way that I can start a third
of the polling on the hour, a second third on the 5 minute mark and the
last third on the 10 minute mark and have the device poll every 15
minutes?
Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks
Rob
