You cannot just move the old information into the new structure.
Unfortunately, they did miss the ball on part of the upgrade but the
workarounds are not that time consuming.
If you have everything under the original location "whatsup" directory. This
is where you would find the default London map. Almost everything worked for
me. The alerts came over, the device types and so on. There was only one
gliche that we found in Beta testing that we have a work around for. This is
based on the amount of time a device is down before it alerts. The old way
was to increment the trigger of an alert. The new way is to create
individual time intervals. The default values are 2 minutes and 5 minutes
and I believe 20 minutes. If you are using something different ( I use 4 and
15) and have over 400 maps and 5000 devices. Ipswitch is working on a script
for this work around and hopefully will have it available shortly.

Hi Robert,

My maps are located in E:\Program Files\Whatsup\Maps and
the default installation location of WUG Pro is E:\Program Files\Ipswitch.

I did think of that but I thought that the installation wizard would've
prompted that it had discovered a previous version and did I want to install
into the same location and Upgrade. I have also looked at the new versions
folder structure and thought about copying the previous maps into a
subfolder of WUG Pro but couldn't identify where. Also what about the
existing alerts, notifications and custom services.

The import of maps is important but just a time consuming would be the need
to recreate everything else.

Thanx for the input.

If your current version of WUG has its maps saved in a different directory
than the standard then the upgrade will not see your current stuff properly.
What directory do you have your maps in ??

OK - I didn't think of that, but the network guys have told me only to use
port 81 on the server where I am running WUG, so I couldn't do that anyway.

Anyway I have been told to place the implementation on hold now that it has
been discovered I will have to manually recreate my 175 devices spread over
15maps and also recreate all the alerts / recurring notifications....

Myself and senior management are amazed that there appears to be no upgrade
path from our previous version of WUG.

I can get to both web interfaces, WUG is running on port 8080, WUP is
running on 81

I thought the same thing - I installed WUG Pro but then wanted to still use
WUG Gold but every time I opened the browser, the new version login screen
appeared.

You have to stop the Ipswitch WhatsUp Engine service to stop the webserver
then you can restart the previous version WUG Service and keep using the
previous version of WUG.

First I thought someone said that the new WUG uses IIS?

But I can turn off all the IIS services and the WUG web server still runs.

Second. I created a device. Then I created a group. I moved the device into
the group.

In the list view it shows the device under the group. But the map view still
shows the device and view at the same level??

Thanks,jb
