Guys,
If you go to 8.04 hf1, you will some improvements in the color limitation.  You will be able to use a higher resolution when connecting via RDP.

Dan's is correct.  You need to set the colors to 256.  I had the same problem on with 8.0/2003.  Also, if you connect to the server via RDP you need to make sure that that you set the colors to 256 for the RDP connection as well.  Otherwise, while you are connected anyone browsing the webpage would see black icons.

I just finished a new install of WUG 8.0 on Windows Server 2003. My Web icons were also black. I am running WUG as a service.

The only fix that worked for me on this issue, was to always connect (if using remote desktop Connection) to the server with color depth of 256 Colors.

The issue resolves, once you connect and disconnect from the server. If you are at the system console, run it in 256 color mode also.

My issue reoccurs when I connect to the server in High (16) or (24) bit, then goes away when I connect in 256 colors.

Hope this helps.

Dan

The KnowledgeBase has the answer! I'd recommend using it for many "already answered questions". There are hundreds (thousands?) of FAQs in it.

Here is a link for your particular question (I searched for "black" and it was at the top)...

Subject: [WhatsUp Forum] WUG Web Display Problem

Hi,

I just installed WUP Gold 8.0 running on Windows Server 2003, and creating maps and basic setup have gone smoothly so far.

But when browsing all the display icons (default router icon) are BLACK, not the same way it looks on the local server when I'm creating the maps,

(I have tried using IE-6.0, Netscape-7.2 and Firefox-1.0 all with the same result)

Does anyone know why this is happening and what I could do to correct this problem or where I can find resources to help solve this problem?

Thanks in advance.

Sincerely,

Mo Sule.
