We solved this problem at the State using WUG by setting up service checks
which are HTTP content scans of CGI/Perl scripts running on an Apache
server. The script can do anything, and return something like "success" or
"failure." For example, to do a HTTPS content scan, use Perl to do the query
and check for content, then return a value appropriately to WUG.

>From what I have seen of WUP it will be very nice when they get a few
things worked out. My issues are about having to rewrite all of my custom
asp pages. I guess I do have one other issue that Ipswitch has never
successful responded to. Almost every other monitoring software I have
looked at has the option to run a command line or program as a
monitor/service. Ipswitch just does not want to provide that option on
their software. They keep saying it is so easy to do with their plug-in,
but if it was so easy why have they not done it yet?

WUG is not dead, just Ipswich's sanity is died. They have chosen to stop
listing to most of their diehard customers. I have to rewrite all of my
custom pages and scripts to convert to their new product, so it is a good
time for me to look at other software.

I notice VERY little activity on this forum any longer.

Is WUG a dead product?
