I'm not sure how much I can impress upon you that you are most decidedly *not*
being patronized. If anything, quite the opposite: this issue has been
assigned a significant amount of resources within the Foundation (in fact, it's
pretty much my "go to" task right now).

It is possible that you're experiencing a disconnect between the "culture" of
Wikipedia and the "culture" of development. Developers, programmers, designers
- we tend to be a bit harsh in our language from time to time, and make
comments that can appear to be hostile or patronizing. However, they're *not* -
these comments are simply direct, and meant to be taken both at face value and
with some self-deprecating humor.

I can tell you for true that this issue has been near the forefront of our
talks for the past several weeks, and the primary focus of conversation for the
past week or so, and I expect it will remain at that volume for the next
several weeks (possibly months). If we were patronizing you, there would have
been simple pat on the head and nothing more. Instead, your issues have taken
center stage and we are actively working on ways in which we can learn more
about the way that *you* do your job and ways that we can *make it better*.

So please, seriously, engage with us on the Mediawiki page. We're trying to
set up an easy system for you to be able to show us exactly how *you* do NPP
(everyone is different, and we want to have as much data as possible to work
with).

I, for one, am very excited to work on this series of problems. They're hard
problems, which makes them extremely interesting to me - which means that I'm
going to latch onto them like a pit bull. I know that won't mean much to you
right now (you don't trust anything I have to say), but if you ask around
you'll find that people who know me and have worked with me will tell you that
if I think something is worth fighting for, I'll fight to the end for it.

And this, I think, is worth fighting for.
