Hi Everyone

I've been spending a little time thinking strategically about overcoming the
challenges of OER silos in ways which enable individual projects to achieve
more. This is part of the remit of the OER Foundation -- namely to foster
the development of sustainable OER ecosystems. So I've been toying with a
few ideas which are coming together under a draft concept called
"CollabOERate" -- with attribution to Wikirandy for this great pun. Gee --
you gotta love open collaboration.

This is very much a draft concept and is an emergent concept being developed
openly in the wiki. Hopefully a few of our OER thought leaders and
WikiEducators can refine and tweak as we go along. I think this has the
potential for to facilitate real social change, but at the same time
add-value to all our OER projects and endeavours. A tough challenge -
collaboration is not easy, but I think we can pull this off as loing as we
play by the open philanthropy rules.

I'm planning to test the ideas for the project during the showcase session
at the Hewlett Grantees Meeting. I'm fortunate enough to be joining a panel
talking about our work in establishing a national OER commons for the New
Zealand school sector. Thoughts? How do we make this better?

Take a look and let me know what you think -- feel free to edit (and
naturally add your name if this makes sense.) Be bold and improve as you see
fit.

Exciting times .... Lets make the future happen and effect some of that real
social change :-D.

Cheers
Wayne
