You are right, Leo...It does suck.   It seems to me that it is a shame that Ning has begun charging and an even bigger shame that China is so closed...Let's keep the cry ringing "All the world's knowledge for all the world's people!"

Subject: Re: [WikiEducator] Lack of Access paradox; Open Access Week Ning group

Hey Randy , sorry for "mislead" the discussion  , but since it is a conversation and disscussion , and created by all of us , so sometimes , if it is not too far sidetracked which I am myself aware of , I will try not to wonder too far from the focus

I did not mean to do it , in where I come from ( China ) , we are as previldeged as most of western people to not even talking about using OER , and acting with openess and access but first , we need to be able to get access and literally"open " the page

Ning was blocked in China once for a long time , I believe it is also  something to do with Gene interested abt "commuity infomatics "

to understand your concern , I reread your question in this thread , you felt irritating or even annoying to cost so much trouble to just sign onto the blog

what I am feeling is not even sign up to the blog , but The whole Ning are going to close the door to users like me

That sucks too right ?

Leo

Hi All,

The focus of my post, was NOT about Ning per se - it was more about the organizers choice of making it very difficult to obtain 'access' to an Open Access website.

Ning is not the bad guy here -

Rather, it's about thinking and acting in alignment with openness and access.
