It would be interesting to see how this plays out in practice this August,
but I see encouraging signs that Wikimania 2023 is evolving to meet the
demands of the new reality.

Most notably, there's support planned for satellite events across the world
in addition to the main gathering in Singapore – a model that could go a
long way towards addressing concerns around equity and sustainability and
that was successfully piloted last year. Also, smaller things like the
ability to present remotely in the core program, which the program
submission process implies.
Those are just the things I've noticed from afar; the 2023 organizing team
/ the steering committee would have more context on the work being done
here.

That said, it's worth having a broader discussion on how this work can be
scaled going forward, for 2024 and beyond.
