I thought I'd try your idea, Harondel, and IT WORKED!
I'm now running a virii-scanner to see if I can find what scrogged the
drive, but it's kinda slow.
Let you know if it finds a virus.
I ran Ad-AwareSE on it and found about 30 items that were Mal-stuff.
Mostly miners and trackers.
Hopefully this will make her keep more up-to-date on her .Dat files.
I told her last year but think she listens? Naw. College kids know
everything...
Anyway, Many Thanks.
I'm sure glad you recommended scan disk on XpPe to me.
It's a great tool.
Thanks to Wayne and everyone who helped.
Lord knows, I need it.

I wouldn't assume that at this point. Not until you at least run the drive
manufacturers disk diagnostic tool.
Note, the BDElog.txt file is normally related to the Brilliant Digital
malware/crapware.....
Also I'd suggest cloning the disk with ghost or drive image etc and then
running chkdsk on the drive via XpPE....
I've seen the rebooting problem cured on at least 60% of machines with this
problem just by running chkdsk. Then you have to clean the machine up of
the
crapware, but that's separate issue...
