If some of your email addresses get little or no email, there is no harm in
having those forward to a single POP box. I have separate POP accounts
only for my twelve most active email addresses. That takes care of about
99% of my incoming messages.

Where do you receive messages from those twelve POPs?

It's a mix. One is through Gmail. Another free one is through 1and1.com (former domain host). A high volume paid one is from a third party mail
provider (usa.net), and nine are through my DSL ISP (@sbcglobal.net).

I never access any mail server for retreiving message other than garlic,
my default identity. You said if some get "little" or no mail.
What if they all get a lot of mail?

Besides the 10 available from my ISP, I can get all the POP accounts I want
from Gmail. So if one of my formerly dormant email addresses (say [EMAIL PROTECTED]) started getting a lot of mail, I'd set up a Gmail POP box for it, and then I'd configure [EMAIL PROTECTED] to forward to the new Gmail box.
