Another thing you might want to consider is to purchase an SD card.
IMO only if she has something that takes SD cards. FWIW my PDA & Camera take CF [compact flash].
I also have several thumb drives as most geeks do now a days. My fave is 1gigger Sandisk @ $68 <http://www.mwave.com/mwave/viewspec.hmx?scriteria=3396369> but they tell me that size doesn't matter & one can get a 128 megger for as little as $16.
True, However a SD card is far more popular and versatile than a CF card. SD cards are popping up everywhere. In Digital Camcorders (for quick snapshots), and in many (if not most) tapeless camcorders, MP3 players. Does a CF card have a neat little card reader that converts it to a handy little thumb drive? I have even seen a CF card that is used as a SD plug in (you plug the SD card into the CF adapter then plug that into anything that uses CF cards):

In my experiences (limited, no expert by any stretch of the imagination), the SD card is far, far, far more versatile than CF or thumb drives. They seem to be cheaper than CF (although I think CF's are faster) and just as cheap as thumb drives of the same size. Plus you can secure the data which you cannot do with the other 2.
My point is simply this. You really cannot go wrong by going the SD/Reader route because chances are you will eventually buy something else that will use it if you don't own something already.
