> If it's on the Links bar in IE they don't have to look very far.

It's still not as automatic as other updates.

>>
How about the busy people that don't have time to shop for free after
rebate or those like me that don't do rebates any more than they have to
because they don't get half of them.
>>

There are still a few free versions available and they are all s8ufficent for
many people.

>>
I bought 2 sticks of memory at CC &
come to find out in the small print that the rebate was only for 1 stick of
any memory size which is ridiculous since many mombos require 2. This
little details was buried in the fine print & not in the ad anywhere.
>>

It's always been that way, for as long as I owned a PC. I used to buy them on
separate receipts and have the rebate sent elsewhere - to mom's or later, my
kids at college.

>>
Why should they when they can download mp3s instead.
>>

My kids don't even do that (they rip cd's).

>>
So don't register with McAfee & download the updates via the ftp instead or
use wget as I posted earlier. Better yet run it from a script that runs
when Xp starts up.
>>

Or use a program that checks for updates automatically.
