Yes, that's what he did. It may be simpler to just use a whole house filter at the demarc though, since you already have a separate line running to the dsl modem jack. The author didn't, he created one.

I could do the same- basically you need a two jack connection (one for separating the 2 lines coming in, even though only one is live. He used the line 2 connection as the source to his filter / modem. Then he took the output of the filter and plugged it into the line 1 plug which then enabled all the other phones on that line through this plug. Not a bad idea at all if all the phones are on the same line! It even avoids the need to buy any filters. The same method could be used in any single line home using just one of the filters supplied for the phones in the house.
