Aloha Jim,
Go to "Control Panel" and select "Sounds and Multimedia" (Win2k) or "Sounds,
Speech and Audio Devices" (WinXP). Depending on the operating system, do one
of the following:
[I don't remember exactly how it is in Win9x systems but it should be similar
to Win2K systems.]
In Win2K, on the Sound panel, there is a selection box for "Show Volume
Control on the Task Bar," put a check mark in the box. While you are there
look through the various settings on each of the panels to see if anything
appears to be amiss.
Or
In WinXP, select "Sounds and Audio devices." On the Volume panel, there is a
selection box for "Place volume icon in the taskbar," put a check mark in the
box. While you are there look through the various settings on each of the
panels to see if anything appears to be amiss.
[If you find the appropriate item already selected, try unselecting it and
then reselecting it.]
That should put the volume icon back in the system tray.
When you do get it back, make sure that you ensure that 'Mute' is NOT
selected for the microphone input and check the advance features as
previously noted.
Have a wonderful day!
Aloha, a hui hou...
