I found a Kodak camera that was designed to refuse to use alkalines, (unless
they were a special battery pack from Kodak...)
It liked NiMH as long as the internal resistance was not too high... They
aged
~quickly~ (one year) in the eyes of this camera...

Although a bit away from the main topic here, batteries are very quickly
creeping into our lives and tons of them end up polluting our landfills.
Everything has a remote, which then defines the life of a product. Remote
fails, so goes the product.

Batteries have become like printer ink cartridges, specialized in some cases
and with "chips" to make sure you do not use the "wrong one".

Some of the Sony DV cameras will not use anything other than Sony batteries.
Sony says, it's to show exactly how much charge there is. Bunch of crap.
It's to make sure Sony gets the $70-$90, next time you need one.

Of course I would never buy such a product. When selecting a necessary
gadget, I always make sure it uses off the shelf batteries. Rechargeable,
if it will use a lot of them.
