NPROTECT is not a proper OS managed directory of files -

It is a list of files that did exist, and indications of where those files
were ( partition, and directory structure)
It has to be processed by Norton Protect facility
Right click and select empty ( there may be a lot of disk usage - for 10GB
perhaps 30 minutes before it completes the process
Then Right click and empty the normal recycle bin.

You can tell when its finished most processes - the desktop icon reverts to
it's normal presentation and right-click modes
It's fully finished when your Windows explorer whinedows refresh, and the
disk usage light finally stops showing bursts of activity -
You shouldn't reboot till all that activity is completed

Then consider turning Norton protect off, or restricting it's
processing/retention on a drive by drive basis

Finally, beware -
For each drive, Norton Unerase
only holds a maximum of the last 1500 files deleted by means that are not
normally retained by the OS wastebin facility
and - to the limit you set using the drive percentage ( that's the complete
PARTITION, not the available portion of it )
and Norton staff do not understand the differences between a partition, a
drive, and the systems storage

Hi guys

I think I might have found the problem but what to do about it is the
problem now.

C:\RECYCLER\NPROTECT has 18Gb of files. Folder and contents are "read only
& hidden" understandable....

However, When I ask the system to unhide - it seems to do so and when I ask
it to delete Read only it attepts to do so but takes ages and then - if I
still have the window open (it has crashed a few times) and select the
first file it tells me it canot find it. I get the same info when I as the
system to make NPROTECT and all the files and subfolder visible and
accesable. Cannot select any of the files there to delete.

Any new ideas.

BTW My NSW 2004 refuses to boot?
