The programs that you've downloaded should be backed up in their downloaded
form to a cd as well as any help files or keys that you may have. I have
quite a few of these CDs as well. Also if you can test applications on
another machine prior to installing them on a main production machine. I
realize this is not do able for everyone but it makes for much cleaner
operations.
