Should have done a backup before installing systemworks

I've frequently had to re-install it
( when you do the remove - leave system doctor running until the uninstall
complains
If you are lucky it will not remove the setup, and your re-install will
use the not-deleted monitoring setup)

And - don't forget - the Nprotect is only 1500 files per partition, and the
swapping of the 1501th entry for the 1st entry, etc. can take a lot
(relatively) of time
especially if you are (re)moving several thousand files

and - if you want to recover a file, it's bound to have been over 1500 files
ago!

Also - I seem to (vaguely) remember there is a registry patch to keep a
longer history of good boot registry copies
but I thought you said that whatever got you had already deleted the
associated 'user profile' directories.

Gonna do a defrag/drive - re-org after the backup?
if so - remove hiber.sys, create a permanent pagefile and get it near the
drive start,
Create a set of 'top's files (perhaps in co:\space) and have the defrag
process them put after the win and system32 files
Then, delete them and clear out protected files whenever you install
something that you want faster access to
re-create similar files afterwards to re-acquire the space

Obviously the bloody nastie wiped the registry and I lost all the registry
setting for everything so a reinstall of 70% was necessary.

Still got to get modem up & running and video editing progs although still
there no reg values.

Had to change Hdd letters to install stuff as DVD RW drive was relabeled R
instead of M

Took the opportunity to install Norton Systemworks 2005 now only need to
install Winfax, password manager and a couple of other things and then do a
backu and test it.
