Not being a purest, I may well go for EDTV if I ever decide to buy a
flat-panel. I agree that $2K is a LOT of money to pay for the fare commonly
available in the "vast wasteland!" ;)

As noted though, prices have fallen dramatically in the last year. Just a
year ago, about the best prices I saw on EDTV was the Circuit City house
brand for $2400 and one can easily find a comparable set for less than half
that now. When the price point on EDTV hits $500, I will probably make a
move on it. (Although LCD pricing is looking pretty interesting now too...)

Two grand is still a lot of money for a TV set.

HDTV = High Definition Television, but what in the world is EDTV?
