You are connecting via *some* ISP. Every ISP provides a mail server. Use
the mail server of whatever ISP you happen to be using.

Hi Carl,

See the post I sent to Derrick. Using touchtell's SMTP server is not
possible since I am not directly connected to the ISP. Touch tell only lets
me use their SMTP server if I am connected through the DSL line that they
have given me. This is in another city so there is no way that I can connect
to it.

To echo the other post, "don't use gmail" to deliver outbound mail which is
supposed to come from touchtelindia.net. Set up a separate E-mail account
in Outlook for touchtelindia.net, which uses your ISP's mail server to
deliver mail. Then when sending mail, use the Accounts button to select the
specific mail account that originates the mail (gmail or touchtelindia.net).

Subject: Gmail changing from header when sending from smtp.gmail.com

Hi all,

I have just realized that gmail changes the from header of my message to
[EMAIL PROTECTED] irrespective of which personality / account I send it
from. I am using gmail's smtp server for sending from all my accounts.

For example, if I send from [EMAIL PROTECTED], gmail changes the
from to [EMAIL PROTECTED] on behalf of [EMAIL PROTECTED] This
confuses list servers who reject my posts. I do not want to switch all my
mailing lists to gmail. The other isps do not allow me to connect to their
smtp servers unless I am directly connected to the isp. For instance,
Touchtel is my broadband isp but it wont let me connect to
smtp.touchtelindia.net unless I have the touchtel dsl connection active.

Any one any solutions?
Note:
Changing isps is not an option at this point.
