IMHO, you would spend less time & energy if you got rid of NIS & installed something else! When I bought my Tosh LT last month, it had NIS on it (for a while ;-). Running eTrust Internet Security Suite now - not free (special offer tho!), but very efficient. What does you friend want to do in 3 months, when NIS has to be paid for, assuming he didn't buy the thing already? In my case, the un-install was unusually painless.
