Do not have anything to offer for the OP, and hope it will not start
the traditional arguments... yesterday the US Senate held a hearing
on possible changes to what should be legal to "record" off the air,
net, XM, etc.

The RIAA bozo presented some twisted arguments, which the senators
could not follow, implying that in the future they will let you
listen/watch, but not record anything. I'm sure that day is coming,
if hardware mfg is forced to install blocking chips/code.

So hang on to your old hardware (VCR, tape, analog TV), as it may
come in handy :-))

It doesn't have to be that old either. They're talking about the broadcast flag again <http://news.com.com/Politicians+want+to+raise+broadcast+flag/2100-1028_3-5886722.html?tag=nefd.top> & anything that transmits video via analog such as component video cables would be useless so the HDTV set that I bought a couple of years ago would be rendered useless because it does NOT have a digital connection. Someone ought to tell the congress that all TV tubes are <drumroll please> ANALOG.

They are trying to make it impossible for me to capture video OTA on my HTPC & send it to the HDTV just in case I might upload the capture to the Internet. Get real, I don't have that kind of bandwidth to upload 9 or 10g for a 1hr HD broadcast. If they have their way all TIVOs will be outlawed & you'll be a criminal if you own one.

I hear that you have burglar tools so you must be a burglar & so what if the burglar tool is your MasterCard in more ways than one. Go straight to jail & do not pass Go & do not collect $200.
