We are planning on upgrading our two phones to a couple Samsung
- SCH 950s.

If you go to <http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/store/controller?item=phoneFirst&action=viewPhoneDetail&selectedPhoneId=2204> you'll perhaps notice that the 950 does NOT support National Access like your 530 does.

Does anyone have Verizon and any of their new phones who is
connecting to the internet the way I want?

If you go to <http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/store/controller?item=phoneFirst&action=viewPhoneOverviewByDevice&deviceType=Phones&sortOption=priceSort> you'll may notice all sorts of phones & any of them that support National Access is what you need.

I do know that Verizon restricts the phones as much as possible in order
to sell more features. Business is business, I guess. I'd do the same.

No, it depends entirely on the phone make & model as to what features it has. Some of the $400 phones don't supt Nat'l Access but the cheapie Samsung n330 does & that's why they're out of stock.

Point is: I'd rather keep my little Samsung if I can't connect to the
internet with the new ones......and I don't mean news, sports and music
while viewing the phone screen.

That is one reason why I've kept my Samsung A310 besides I don't want to have to buy new cables, chargers, & batteries.
