As Wayne has already said, that's BS. :) Mobile office makes it easier and
if your phone is provisioned for internet (AFAIK, all that are capable are
provisioned) it will work for just the cost of minutes.

Note though that the QNC service may be charged 25 cents a min. I have a pc
card and pay $60 a month for unlimited use - but that is only for high speed
(national access and broadband) - the old 14,4 netwrok is pay by the minute.
I recommend not using it for more than a few min until you see if you are
billed. (This is the one with the generic logon). Use the one that uses your
phone number as the logon instead.  (I didn't want to tie up my phone plus
the card beats the phone and a cable and i can use it 24/7, not just after 9
and it works as long as the laptop has power. Plus it's a buisiness
deduction.)
