The screen shows some information depending on what happens after I hit F8.
If I try the Debugging Mode, it shows a white horizental bar across the
bottom of the screen, then the Windows XP Logo screen with the blue ball
moving across the screen, then it goes black.

If I try one of the Safe options, it lists several lines starting with
multi(0) disk (0) rdisk (0) partition (4) Windows\system32\drivers\acpi.sys
and several files until the last one listed is mup.sys. Then, nothing else
happens - it just sits there doing nothing.

I've tried to boot from the CD, but since I installed the LG drive, I
haven't been able to boot from CD. I could do so when I had my old slow CD
burner in the machine - maybe I'll have to reinstall it.

I think we can rule out video (onboard) or monitor because when I boot to a
different OS (this one), I can see everything fine with the same computer
and monitor.

A few weeks ago I made an xxcopy of the E drive onto F. (E is the one which
won't work). [You may remember our conversation about xcopy versus xxcopy
and my copying everything except 6 files]. I'm thinking that I might try
copying that stuff back to E as a method of putting things back the same as
they were. Am a little concerned though, because of the missing files.

I CAN see the files on E while being booted onto the version of XP that's on
D.

Will also look at Recovery Console.

More comments are more than welcome.
