Some of the current flatbads do a reasonable job on negs, but when 
you read all real poop on scanners, it's a can of worms.  

You may be scanning 35mm Kodachrome, Ektachrome, negs, or even B&W.  
All these scanner in combination with software do better in some 
cases than others.  

It also depends on the quantity of film you have.  I played with HP 
Photosomart and found it a real hassle, as it did one frame at a 
time.  

Before you spend money, make sure you know exactly what you're 
getting :-)
