AOL actually allows you to use an email program other than their own
proprietary one now? That's at least a step in the right direction for
them.
Is that POP (Post Office Protocol) email in Outlook Express? If so then all
AOL needs to do is allow dial-up access via the Windows dialer and not
require subscribers to install their software. Then they would be a decent
ISP.
Seriously, I do need to know this (if AOL mail can be accessed via Outlook
Express) since I have up until now recommended that people who are weaning
themselves off of AOL access their AOL mail via Internet Explorer. I realize
that once they get a format and reinstall job, they want a smooth transition
to their new ISP and not have to reinstall the AOL software.
