It said "The shell stopped unexpectedly and Explorer.exe had to be
restarted" this is what it says everytime I have to go to Task Manager and
stop the process.

Of course there was another entry that told about what the chkdsk did:

Checking file system on C:
The type of the file system is NTFS.

A disk check has been scheduled.
Windows will now check the disk.
Cleaning up minor inconsistencies on the drive.
Cleaning up 2 unused index entries from index $SII of file 0x9.
Cleaning up 2 unused index entries from index $SDH of file 0x9.
Cleaning up 2 unused security descriptors.
CHKDSK is verifying file data (stage 4 of 5)...
File data verification completed.
CHKDSK is verifying free space (stage 5 of 5)...
Free space verification is complete.

 113127808 KB total disk space.

Repeat the other suggestion of CHKDSK with this change:

  chkdsk /r c:

Answer Yes when prompted and reboot the system.

After reboot, check the Event Viewer (Application) for results (source is
Winlogon).
