So, can I delete that Content.IE5 that seems to be in about 7 or 8 temp
folders?? I don't quite understand your reference to that part.

Basically, if it's in a temp directory, it should be a temporary file, and
after a couple of re-boots and/or a 24 hour life the files should not be
needed.

note - should

If I'm looking at this sort of directory, and I'm not sure, I move it to a
'tteemmpp' directory at the root of C:
Then if the system boots and runs without evident need for those files I
Delete it

Re Internet temporary files:
IE - Tools Internet Options General
 Settings
View Files
should give you the relevant directory name

You'll probably want to keep the cookies
Adjust the space as you think appropriate - 400Mb should be loads

Set pages in history as appropriate - a week should be long enough,
you are either visiting a site frequently, or it probably isn't worth
keeping the entries - UNLESS you only have a slow connection

Back to Windows explorer - and onto the temp storage directory
down to the Content.IE5 ? directory and search
12000 files ? or only 6000 -

html htm gif js pdf swf jpg - and all those 0 length files -

Remember this is the temp storage for web browsing -
about all you cannot automatically replace just by visiting the sites
are the cookies and they are mostly in the higher level directory.
as a cleanout you could just delete all of these files,
but I would suggest deleting them in blocks of less than 1500 at a time
