Have you taken out the RAM and re-installed it? Disconnect the power cord
before removing or installing RAM.

If two sticks of DDR RAM have failed withint a short time, that suggests the
RAM is probably OK and something else is to blame. Or the RAM was damaged
by being installed in that motherboard. Either way, if
removing/re-installing doesn't help, make sure you have an easy
return-for-refund on any RAM you buy to try to fix the problem.

As long as you buy PC2100 memory of the correct type (unbuffered,
*registered*, non-ECC) that together does not exceed the maximum capacity of
this motherboard, it will probably work. I don't think I'd invest in more
than 1GB (2 x 512) for a machine of this age, though, and start with just
one to confirm or reject the "bad motherboard" theory.

Subject: Asus A7M266MB

Hello
I need to replace the DDR memory in my Asus A7M266MB but now find that
there are
2 different PC2100s, high density and low density. There is nothing in
the manual about
this to indicate which it uses. There is a warning that the DDR Ram must
be fast enough
or it may not start. It says it can use PC1600 or PC2100. I had a 512MB
PC2100 in
the machine but it started reporting that it was a 256MB with no errors,
and when I ran
the memcheck soft it showed 512 available butonly 256 in use, and when
forced to run
all 512 there were massive errors. It ran for 6 weeks at 256 in use, but
then quit and
will not boot or show bios, guess its dead.
Thanks Joe Harrison
