Mom: Don't speed.

Mom: Because I said so.

You're sure cut that short yet most of your diatribe has been like

Mom: Don't speed.
Kid: Why?
Mom: You'll get killed
Kid: How?
Mom: I don't know
Kid: If you know I'll get killed then you must know how?
Mom: Go ahead get killed just don't blame me.

People who know the dangers of something can take steps to avoid them. For example, most people who are afraid of dying because of excess speed just slow down. I, on the other hand, worked to become a better driver. As a result, I can get from point A to point B in less time and safer than 99.99% of the drivers in the US. In 30+years, no accidents and no speeding tickets!! :-)

There is danger from all men. The only maxim of a free government ought to be to trust no man living with power to endanger the public liberty.
