vs. Home? I've made my choice based upon what I've read:
Open and stable platform for installing business programs,
more Administrator functions like unlimiting reservable
bandwidth, and more networkable. Possibly, at some point in
the future, Microsoft may no longer support Home while it
still supports XP Pro."
Boy is she full of falsehoods. There is no reason MSFT would
stop supporting Home & not Pro or vice a versa. That makes no
sense what's so ever. I would say no to the agree to disagree
because she's full of baloney & has no business near a
computer because it's not what the client needs but what she
wants which IMHO is against everything a soup kitchen stands
for. What does a soup kitchen need more admin functions for?
Are you managing every soup kitchen in PA ? Yes, Pro is more
networkable but why does a soup kitchen need that? Just
because a car has cruise control doesn't mean you need it in
the city. Heck she wants to sell AC to an Eskimo.
I would call it misinformation. :-)
She's really an end-user who agreed to be the part-time IT person
because she "knows more" than anyone on-site. She had a helper --
a boy-genius (I had him when he was 12 in a college-level VB
course) but I guess the challenge was missing. So she'a alone,
with no knowledge and no supervision.
We're barely managing the one in Trenton, NJ. :-) You may recall
that she couldn't be bothered with having limited user accounts
because it made more work for her when it came to S/W installations.
Ideally, they could have a pro on-call perhaps, or maybe they
could hire someone to train her. If you know soup kitchens, you
know that (at least in Trenton) they are a growth industry and
money is _always_ a problem.
