A question came up off-list. I thought I would try to clarify (although I'll
probably just muddy the waters further).

the name/title of the list is WinHome/SOHO (small office home office).
We talk here primarily about the Operating Systems Win 95, Win98, Win ME, Win
2000 Pro, Win XP Home, Win XP Pro, and occasionally about Win 2000 Server, Win
2003 Server. There is even a very occasional mention of (gasp!) MS-DOS.
There is no clear distinction between home/work here and we have a number of
people who work in small offices or who otherwise support PCs and PC networks
in small offices (up to 10-20 machines or so). Some of us have 15+ machines
in our homes, all on a network. Some of us have only 1 laptop running a
dialup connection to the internet. Anything in this area is fair to ask about
and for others to share their own experiences and knowledge.
There is a lot of interest in, and a lot of questions about, home networking
these days both wired and wireless. Any of these are fair subject matter as
well. What you do at home is probably no different than you might do in a
small office or vice versa. So feel free to ask.
We generally don't talk about Domain Controllers, VLANs and client/server
systems such as you might find in a much larger office (100-1000+ machines).
That kind of subject matter is for WINNT-L or other lists.
