you could ghost the laptop over the network, creating an image on a
desktop pc, then a simple ghost restore followed by a "fixboot" from an
xp cd would have you up and running again, or even ghost the laptop hd
to an external usb hd attached to the laptop, the 2nd way would require
no "fixboot" :)
