There are flaws in Windows but that doesn't prevent you from backing that up does it ? ;-) I was talking only a few basic apps like Office not that the system had to be 100% besides I said he could make the virgin backup if he wanted but don't forget to back it up again once the apps are installed as that's where the real time savings comes from if he has to restore an image.

Been there, just did it... I do a clean install one, another in a week,
and then start the "if-I-think-of-it-and-get-around-to-it" ones...
(AKA loose interest easy and quick...)

It saved me lots of time, but I miss what I did in that second week...
(No data was lost in this operation!)
If I get a system past three months with no major problems, I'm good
for years of just making repairs...

The thing that "toasted the system" was some sort of problem with either
a patch or an "over the top" install of something that was already there...
Since you never know WHEN that will happen, (and it DOES happen),
you can never have too many Images, (or backups...)
(At the very least, keep your critical data backed up...)

Being a new system, it was easy to revert to the last image, but I could
not repeat the same problem... (Did not try too hard...)
