Thanks Andy,

There's actually a button called Lenovo Care.  Not sure what's hiding 
behind it - perhaps some version of the R&R.  Have not powered it 
this thing yet.  Just charged it.  

Wanted to backup a "virgin" setup, in case I mess up from the start.  
May be cheaper to get a WinXP Home Ed CD, than to worry about crash.  
I'm mostly concerned about the drivers.  I assume the one's preloaded 
do work :-)

The battery BTW, makes no ref of Sony, so who knows.  Will keep a 
fire extinguisher handy :-)  

Ultimately, the only practical way to make a backup will be with the 
enclosed utility.

Rethorical question:  how did we get this low, so a $1000 laptop does 
not come with a CD/DVD.  Please do not tell me it's to save cost.
