How obvious :-) Turned out that my firmware was a few versions
behind.
Why I did not jump on that myself is: had a newer box of Memorex
DVD's and those were willing to burn at higher speed, but an older
box would not. Thought it would be the other way around.
Anyhow new firmware fixed the problem.
