It's called a Pots Splitter and is what was used before they had filters available, back in the early days. Yes, if you know what you are doing, also if you live in a house it's likely quite simple, if you live in a building with an Enterphone system, it's a bit more complicated as the pots splitter will need to be installed in the building telephone wiring closet. -- Harondel J.
