Hi Stephen-
I simply have a $1.00 splitter that plugs into the walljack with two
RJ11's
coming out the backside. One goes to the DSL modem and the other goes to a
filter then into the answering machine. Works like a charm.

Subject: Hardware: Telephone WallJack 4 DSL
Greetings...
I'm finally going to take the plunge and move from dial-up to DSL. :-)
My home office has only one jack for the telephone number/service I want to
use for
DSL. I have splitters at the wall for modems, telephones, and an answering
machine.
My friendly ISP says using a splitter isn't the best way to go with DSL but
that it
can sometimes work fine with a filter. One approach is to try/see what
happens
after the D-Link networking kit arrives and the teleco adds the DSL service.
But if the splitter doesn't work, then can rewire the wall phone jack to
accomodate
both voice and DSL service? I'm guessing Radio Shack has something suitable
to
transform a voice only line/input to voice/DSL -- I'll ask this week.
My other options is to get the telco guy in to do the install, which means
more
money and tidying up my office so there is reasonable access to the wall
jack. :-)
Should it be easy to add/wire a (Radio Shack) wall plug to accomodate voice
and DSL
service? Many thanks for any suggestions...

cheers, Stephen
