Crude, but slow method of cutting down the contents of the temp internet folders - Thing is to: a) keep all files dated today, or since you last rebooted b) of the remaining files remove all zero length files that have 8 character names, with no type c) remove .tmp files that are large
Hopefully (a) will not interfere with current work (b) will remove thousand of entries from the directory, sopeeding up finding files (c) will free space Use windows explorer and locate Content.IE5 within Temporary Internet Files within InternetTempAndHistoryFiles use search to find *.tmp files, order by size and select the big ones order by date and de-select the current ( today's ) ones Delete use search to find all files, order by size select the zero length ones that do not have a type Delete about 1000 at a time (seems to do 2 lots much faster than 1 lot of 2000) As I said - crude, but can be quite effective You can also safely delete file types .jpg .gif .htm .html .swf .png JimB ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jim Poer" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Monday, October 16, 2006 9:43 PM Subject: Re: Deleting Temporary Internet Files folders > Thanks, I wouldn't really know which to pick.
