While it is possible that there is an actual imcompatiblity with IE7,
most likely, their website is just barfing on the string that that
IE7 sends to the server to ID itself. Since it is also blocking
FireFox, I'm guessing the latter. There is a workaround for that
that; MS also has a tool for managing the user agent. A link for it
is also located on the site in this link:
<http://www.fiddlertool.com/useragent.aspx>
That's probably a PITA, though. You change the user-agent string for
sites that don't like the IE7 ID and change it back afterward. There
are also some registry hacks that allow you to run IE6 and IE7 on the
same machine, but I haven't looked into them.
As IE7 is about to become the standard issue from MS and the Vista
release is (probably) just a few months away, the site in question
will likely be updated soon. So, it may not be worthwhile to even
bother with either of those options. I guess it would just depend on
how anxious you are to upgrade to 7.
My default home page that was slow opening in ie7 is:
http://www.rr.com/flash/index.cfm?division=91
It opened and completely rendered for me in about 2 secs. I spent a
few minutes checking various links on the page and didn't have any
trouble with any of them. No idea why it wasn't coming up for you in
a timely manner. I did update my flash version sometime after I
installed the first beta in March, so perhaps that would have
helped. IIRC I also updated my Sun Java client at some point, too.
YMMV, HTH, FWIW.
