Apparently, the on-board nic drivers aren't good but only for RC2. In RC1, they worked perfectly.
The rating system is something new in control panel wherein you can change a number of system variables (e.g., manage startup programs, control indexing, set visual effects, power settings, disk cleanup, advanced tools, etc.) and it is where you get the "Windows Experience Index." This is the numerical score that Vista assigns to your hardware, I would guess ostensibly to ensure you can run all Vista features successfully. http://www.google.com/search?q=windows+experience+index Thanks for the tip on the Kingston memory. A quick check shows about a $4-$8 difference from what I paid. Every little bit helps. So the Vista drivers for your onboard nic stink ? >With 2gb of ram Vista rates it at 5.2 (Corsair XMS TwinX 3200). Good stuff but I usually get the Kingston HyperX Dual Channel set to save a few bucks. So what's this rating system mean to the OS ? -- ---------------------------------------- The WIN-HOME mailing list is powered by L-Soft's renowned LISTSERV(R) list management software.
