Hi James :-) I thought about doing a repair, but since I am working with a
new inbox.dbx it cannot be the cause. I wonder if any other aspect of OE6 is
known to cause this problem?

Perhaps the dbextract, or is it dbxtract facility (probably downloadable
from TuCows) will let you see what is still left in the folder
Otherwise perhaps Majorgeeks, or some other source of utilities will have
something for repairing the dbx files
