There are no disk errors on the drive where the .dbx files are stored.
Tweakui can, I believe, fix the Welcome screen miscount bug, but I don't
have this enabled anyways.
No messages (or entire .dbx files for that matter) exceed 55mb and that,
admittedly large, folder behaves normally.
Have recreated an empty inbox.dbx, leaving old messages elsewhere, and so
far it hasn't reocurred. Possibly there was a bad message in the
malfunctioning inbox, although all displayed correctly.
Now it's wait and see!!

Do you have any mail files that are close to 2gb in size? Typically common
with the sent items dbx file.
